African Citizens Development Foundation
Welcome Note
The years in the current first decade of this 21st century is full of challenges which will eventually come with rich knowledge and wisdom to manage other emerging global challenges for the rest of the century. Experiences bring knowledge to discerning mind and application of knowledge is wisdom. The growing global challenges in the recent years is capable of overwhelming nations with ineffective Rule of Law, this will affect negatively the general culture of such society.  The developing nations are more in this category and especially the African continent which faced with overwhelming challenges and those crisis are becoming too difficult to overcome in the face of global food crisis, global financial crisis, the climate change and the subsequent global warming. All of these are challenges to the entire globe, but nations with ineffective planning stand to suffer greater impact in the coming years.

African Citizens Development Foundation (ACDF) continues to advocate for the promotion of Rule of Law to enhance the culture of Discipline and Civic Responsibility as citizens become active through constant positive activities. When a nation pays lip service to the efficacy of the rule of law, the citizenry become weak as they are free to do things their own way, and this give ample opportunities for insincere leaders who will always prefer citizens to be in low state of development to enable them sustain their misdeeds and freely violate the fundamental rights of their citizens.  Additional implication is the fact that when a nation fails to guide her people and check their activities and behavioural patterns through effective rule of law, the natural law will automatically sets in and bring about severe punishments through numerous and constant natural calamities, bringing disgrace to the entire society which cannot be challenged in any human court of justice. Such severity is reduced when every nation strengthen her rule of law through strong institutions. Corruption will naturally be disempowered and become very insignificant and harmless to the society. This will eventually eradicate poverty which has defy all scientific solutions and remain big threat to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of halving poverty by the year 2015. Absence of or ineffective Rule of Law promotes Indiscipline culture, demobilizes citizenry and render them weak and inactive in anything positive. Under such state of development, citizens are generally indolent and always adopt short-cuts to seek for solutions to their individual problems and this automatically increase corruption. All other societal ills need these aforementioned factors to exist and for as long as those factors continue to exist at the roots, poverty will continue to be empowered, so is insecurity to life and property.

All ACDF projects and programmes are centered on how rule of law can be strengthened, our Citizens Colleges (CITICOLL) continue to train ACDF registered student members with the national and state curriculum along with other special programmes that will strengthen the younger ones and prepare them as incorruptible future leaders, addressing all domains of education in an uncommon pragmatic way to produce a total child. We have graduated a total of 418 students in the last seven years all of them inducted as Life-Members of the Foundation.

Our ASSEFAD Farmer groups are regularly going through reorientation programme from their cluster villages christened “ASSEFAD Millennium Village” with the chairmen of individual groups as Village Council members. We hope to have ASSEFAD Villages in every Local Government area across Nigeria and Africa.

Our Advocacy work has aligned us with the Nigeria Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) as one of the major partners and member of the National Anti-Corruption Coalition (NACC).

ACDF is involved in serious motivational orientation workshops and seminars to create development awareness and strengthen citizenry by changing their orientation positively towards respecting the rule of law and to promote nationalism, thereby reducing national calamities which often bring disgrace to the entire society.

Our status as an an NGO in Associate Status with the United Nations Department of Public Information (UNDPI) and lately with the granting of Special Consultative Status of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations will continue to fire the desire to work on  the African Citizens development  towards achieving good governance for “building a cultured society”.
